We spent 2 weeks in New Zealand on the south island. We did not rent an RV but saw a number of them and talked to some drivers. One common issue is some of the roads on the south island are tight and curvy and hard to negotiate with an RV. There are lots of nice campgrounds. We decided if we went again, we would not use hotels and bed and breakfasts, but rent the cabins in the RV parks. They are much less expensive. As you drive around New Zealand, there are many great places to pull off the road and have lunch. You could pull off with the RV. We would purchase lunch food at a grocery store and then stop at some beautiful spot to have lunch.
