I have been fooling with the numbers a bit, overestimating I hope.
Headed out on a six month, 10,000, more like 12,000 mile by the time sightseeing driving is added in, to Newfoundland.
The daily breakdown goes something like this.
$40PD for CGs. There will a mix of HH's, some freebees, a Wally or two in there.
$40PD for diesel based on 10MPG & estimated distance & a cost of $6gal. The truck actually does better.
$40PD for food plus incidentals.
$40PD for that catch all miscellaneous. This will include the annual truck major service, a couple of trailer tires, over $1000 ferry to Newfoundland.
$160PD does not seem too bad. Fuel burn is up of course, at about .60c per mile. Even at $180PD you can't even get a decent hotel for that, never mind all the other expenses if you did such a trip by car.
