RVing in 2022

I’d sure rather be in my RV than a hotel room….even prior to Covid.

A little off topic of RV travel but pertinent to your family's travel plans. We have taken a family trip (us, our kids, our grandkids, and some in-laws) to Disneyworld ever 4 years since 2003 when our grandkids were very small.

Flying into Tampa is a lot less expensive than flying into Orlando. About $250 or so per person. But is about 1 hour longer drive, but easy drive. Tampa airport is a lot less crowded and hectic than Orlando.

Have stayed in Disney resort properties, off site hotels, and vacation rental houses. Disney properties are nice and convenient, but expensive. We have rented up to 7 bedroom, 5 and 6 bath houses for around $400-500/night thru VRBO for as many as 11 of us. Costs shared 3 to4 ways makes for a comparatively inexpensive stay. And off site means easier to eat at lower cost restaurants. Disney food is expensive also.

If they are just needing one room then a house would not be as attractive.

However they do it I know they will enjoy it. Especially if the kids are still young enough to thrilled by the "Disney magic".

Yeah, it was just a conversation starter. Not about fuel prices. But like the media, why let a good issue go to waste…

No change is planned. I traveled to Alaska when diesel was $4++ and it won't stop me now.

I'm much more concerned with the effect of fuel prices on my small business than I am for travelling. It's really easy to get ticked off when I drive by gas stations and see the price, or the sticker shock when I see the price on the pump after filling up my tank, but for the total cost of a trip I try to keep it in perspective. At 4.50 a gallon a 2000-3000 mile round trip will cost $400-$600 more in fuel than last year. Not chump change by any means, but not enough for me to cancel...yet.

I do think there will be a glut of campers if the fuel prices continue.

Yep. I don't see prices coming back down any time soon. People will be getting rid of the RV's they don't use...but who is going to buy them? We are planning trips closer to home as I'm sure many others are also who are keeping their RV's. Will it put a crunch on availability? Maybe. I am looking at one tank there and one tank back trips. Still not cheap when you have a 34 gallon tank.

Even if there are a lot of 1-2 year old RV's for sale how many potential buyers will be balking because of high fuel prices?
