Why on earth do you feel you might have to carry a gun??? I have no problem with gun ownership, but folk who think they need th defend themselves at camp grounds with a gun are either dilusional or staying at some pretty bad campgrounds.

This has been brought up before. It is a matter of choice. If you feel the government will send help in time to protect you then no need for a gun. If you feel you want to accept the responsibility of protecting yourself and family then carry a gun in the RV and don't discuss it. Out of sight and out of others mind.

Seems to me that the "heat" subject is not something that is liked to be discussed on the forum..

But as for myself, well if I feel the "need" for "heat" when camping, then it IS time to move on or quit camping altogether.

Have had to endure a bunch of drunken campers that took pleasure at staying up to 3-4 am with loud music and revving loud vehicles up for a few days but nothing life threatening..

I take it that you have encountered a situation that made you uncomfortable?

We've never felt unsafe in campgrounds across the country or with boondocking on public lands.

Is it just one campground you have an issue with? You have wheels - move.

We travel extensively in our Class C and in a 22' TT prior to that. I never hesitate to seek out isolated CG's but I am always armed {yes I have a CCW permit, know the law and practice regularly to maintain proficiency}. Often we are camped where there is little if any cell coverage and even if you can reach the authorities they may be 45 minutes to an hour or more away.

IMHO: If you have never felt unsafe perhaps you need to pay more attention... Bad guys don't wear signs announcing their intentions... stuff happens.

I will not permit others to make life and death decisions for us. Twice {in the last 8 years}, I have had to produce a weapon and have discharged it once. In both instances without it we would have been in serious jeopardy.

Everyone needs to "know their limitations" as well as the law and be prepared for the consequences of having/not having a weapon. Serious problems are rare and fleeing is often an option... but not always.

I have never felt threatened at a campground. I also have a concealed carry permit and am armed. Never have had to pull the weapon and hope I never do.

I also have a CCW and am always armed whether in the RV, the car or on the Harley. Out here in the west emergency services can be hours away or maybe no cell service to reach them. It's not always people that's the problem, lately we've had some trouble with rabid wild animals and you need to be able to protect yourself.

IMO if you knowingly go to a campground where you feel unsafe, a firearm can cause a problem to quickly escalate to serious levels. If you feel unsafe, don't stay, or leave at the earliest opportunity.

FWIW I've never felt unsafe at any campground, even the slightly seedy ones. We never stayed at the one that made us feel like it wasn't a smart place to stay. It may have been fine, but we just got the wrong vibes from the place.

After 7yrs in military law enforcement and 25yrs in civilian law enforcement I have 3 pistols available. The Glock 23C .40 cal they gave me at retirement, a Bersa .380 I love and my wife's Glock 42 .380 which she as a disabled vet loves.
To each there own I used to say, until I was almost killed one night on duty back in 1995.
