Satellite TV. Service

Earlier today, I decided to get some quotes for satellite TV service. When I called Dish Network, they wouldn't even talk to me without my Social Security number. I asked why and was told that they had 5 different price profiles, dependant on credit history. When I told them that I would give them a credit card number and for them to just quote me a price assuming that I had good credit, they refused. That was the end of the conversation. Guess they don't need my business.

If the OP actually called Dish directly & it wasn't a bogus number.

Different circumstances exist with this web site. This site is "an authorized dealer" for Dish services, not Dish network itself.
  • If you're signing up for a two year contract with Dish including the equipment and installation, they'll need your SS# to run a credit check. If you're buying and installing your own equipment, as many RV'ers do, then no contract and no SS# is needed to subscribe to their "pay-as-you-go" Flex plan.

Dish pricing is on the dish web site. Isn't that the price you pay? When I got dish I called them and told them what package I wanted, gave them a credit card # and they turned it on.I bought and installed my equipment myself and the only thing they asked me for was the ser # of the box.

Curious, did you already have Dish @ home when you did that ?
  • I suspect you called a "bogus" phone number for Dish.
