Earlier today, I decided to get some quotes for satellite TV service. When I called Dish Network, they wouldn't even talk to me without my Social Security number. I asked why and was told that they had 5 different price profiles, dependant on credit history. When I told them that I would give them a credit card number and for them to just quote me a price assuming that I had good credit, they refused. That was the end of the conversation. Guess they don't need my business.

Dish pricing is on the dish web site. Isn't that the price you pay? When I got dish I called them and told them what package I wanted, gave them a credit card # and they turned it on.I bought and installed my equipment myself and the only thing they asked me for was the ser # of the box.

I suspect you called a "bogus" phone number for Dish.

If you're signing up for a two year contract with Dish including the equipment and installation, they'll need your SS# to run a credit check. If you're buying and installing your own equipment, as many RV'ers do, then no contract and no SS# is needed to subscribe to their "pay-as-you-go" Flex plan.

If the OP actually called Dish directly & it wasn't a bogus number.

Different circumstances exist with this web site. This site is "an authorized dealer" for Dish services, not Dish network itself.

If you're signing up for a two year contract with Dish including the equipment and installation, they'll need your SS# to run a credit check. If you're buying and installing your own equipment, as many RV'ers do, then no contract and no SS# is needed to subscribe to their "pay-as-you-go" Flex plan.
