Sattalite TV

I have one of the old dish systems. Looking to upgrade to a new system. I see the two most popular are tailgater and cube. Since I have gotten so much useful information from this site I am asking for you opinions.

Thanks

Particularly on the east coast, the Winegard Pathway X2 is a much better choice for Dish satellite service. The X2 is capable of receiving both the Dish eastern and western arc satellites, increasing your aiming options, and it also has a larger reflector than the Tailgater or Cube, making it less effected by rain fade. The X2 also handles two receivers, compared to one for the Tailgater.

We went with the Pathway X2 also. Last summer, we travelled from California to Maine, and were able to receive Dish programming all along the way. I like the fact that it's fully automatic. Set it up outside, turn on the receiver and in about 5-10 minutes, you're watching TV.

  • We bought the Tailgater 2 years ago. It only works with a couple of the Dish Receivers so we had to buy a 211 receiver at the same time. This receiver doesn't have a hard drive. In order to record TV shows and movies you have to add an external hard drive.

Once you have all of that...it works well. Really easy to setup. The antenna only weighs 10 pounds so I read about several being stolen. I put mine on the roof and lock it to the ladder.

    We are happy with it.
