No, the Pathway series only works with the Dish VIP series receivers. The Hopper requires multiple LNB's to use its full functionality. The only automatic dish I'm aware of that works with the Hopper is Winegard's Trav'ler Dish version roof mount.

Tailgater over 2 yrs full time. Easy to set up and portable. No problems.

We have the Tailgator for Dish and it works very well. Easy set up and great HD picture. I had a problem with it and the warranty people were great and had it fixed and back to me promptly so I was happy with that. All that being said I think if I were to do it over I would get the FlexCube so that I could switch providers if I wished.

Look at Winegard Carryout G2. Portable or roof mount, dish or direct service so you are not hostage to one service provider, if roof mounted it can be removed and used as portable. Very happy with ours.

I also have a Pathway X2. I don't believe there is a thing wrong with a Tailgater, but the X2 just gives you more bang for your buck for all the reasons that Dutch_12078 states.

I fulltime and have been using mine for about a year now and it's never failed me.

* If you have an Iphone, I suggest you get an app that will help find the satellites. "Dish For My RV" costs $5 and uses your phone's camera to project the locations of both the Eastern arc and Western arc satellites onto the sky when you point the phone at the southern sky. Then just set the sat dish so it has a clear shot at them. Works great for me.

I have the Tailgator. I use a 211k receiver in the house so when we go we just take the 211k with us and no messing with calling dish or having a seperate RV account. Besides a hdmi for the main tv the 211k has a Sat out jack on the back so you can feed more TV's but they will all be watching the same thing but that works for me because I only watch one tv at a time. The 211z does not have a sat out.

I have not had any problems getting reception on the west coast as long as you have a clear view of the southern skys, sat phone app helps look for obstructions. I doubt if the X2 can receive a signal through trees.... And dish vs direct you will get HD with dish and SD with Direct... They are not that much different in price.

Another fan of the Pathway. When we can't get reception with our rooftop sat, the X-2 always manages to find it even through trees.

We love our tailgater. No problems unless we're under trees and can't get a clear sky. Don't know why, but the recommendation is to keep the handle facing North. Started doing that and never a problem. I keep a small compass in the camper.
