Save a bit on fuel

For the first time in a very long time I have seen diesel priced less than unleaded. Only a couple of pennies but still cheaper. I can see the demand decreasing here on the edge of the Permian Basin oil country though. Prices are coming down - my normal station had diesel at $2.59 this morning and $2.49 this afternoon.

I have been satisfied with fuel in the $2.50_3.00 range considering it was over $4.00 when we started this adventurer 10 years ago. Prices per barrel must allow for profit otherwise wells will be shut down cause you can't pump it if you lose money on every barrel.

I agree, if they can't make money on fuel they will quit selling it which will bring the price back up. As much as I like cheap fuel, I am sure I have lost more on my 401K and investments than I can possibly save on fuel costs! It is a sad situation.

Wake up folks. The oil prices are not indicative of the overall economy. However low oil prices will have a positive effect on many other economic factors.

And I like cheap gas!!!

Gasoline futures is $1.174 a gallon. Of course you need to add tax to that, but based on historical prices, that should give you prices at the pump somewhere around $1.60- 1.75. Of course prices are sticky going down and extremely slippery going up, but right now retail at the pump dealers are making a KILLING.

Houston northeast gas is $1.40.

Prices that low can put a major strain on some state governments. Not always a good thing.

Fuel taxes are per gallon and market forces on lower prices increase tax revenues generally.
