Well considering I am the tire repair technician and it`s my wife and kids in the van I did it the way I feel and know is safe! I put a plug in it. a patch from the inside, while OK too, just isn`t necessary! unless there is enough damage to warrant it. a small screw doesn`t warrant it. a large chunk of metal that tears the inner structure does! and even though they say that a plug/patch would be OK for that, I don`t. that would require a tire replacement!
