Screwed up? Or down?

Any body else have recliners that are screwed or bracketed to a slide floor? Noticed that 3 of 4 screws holding the front frame rail down were backed out about 1/4 inch. Do they do this to avoid ripping the screws out from fat guys like me being rough? Screws backed out on their own? Lazy installer? Thoughts?
  • Never had that problem.Ours had straps and D rings on the floor.Removed both and they don't move at all going down the road.I move mine out a turn it a little to see the TV better.
  • Mine aren't "real" recliners. Screws help them feel less "wobbly".

    Thanks for the response!!!
  • I don't think the screws are supposed to back themselves out, it would serve no good purpose. I would call the factory and see what they say.

    my initial thought
  • Screwed them down. Almost worried my slide won't close. ;). Haven't got that far yet
  • Hhhhhmmmm...... You made me look. Mine isn't screwed down or attached at all. I've put 10,000 miles since I bought it in January and it hasn't migrated anywhere so I guess it don't much matter.
  • You are probably right. I just hope I didn't screw them down too far and create a slide issue. Guess time will tell.

    Again thanks for the response.
  • The screws will strip out of the chip board that they are screwed into especially with the forces of people dropping into the chairs and pushing themselves out of them. When placing or replacing or tightening any screw that goes into the bottom of the slide (floor) make sure a visual is done outside to be sure the screw does not extend through the bottom of the floor. If the screw protrudes through the bottom it will do serious damage to the flooring it has to slide across when closing or opening.
