I wouldn't glue it in...replace it with fresh vinyl insert..it comes in colors also. Removing it next time will be a mess and more difficult.
It is much easier to work with and install if you heat it up. I heated a large pot of water on the stove and then put the insert in the hot water....made it pliable and easy to guide into the channel.
