In my travels I'm seeing a bunch of later model RV's of every description for sale in peoples yards, driveways, sitting in empty lots, on Craigs List and in the local paper.
I wonder what gives.
I wonder if people buy an RV and then get a taste of 'camping' and decide that a motel or staying home is better or if the get in over their heads financially and need to get out.
Kind of amazed at how many I see in my travels with mine.
Any opinions?
TV shows like Going RV and Extreme RV have a lot to do with it, along with the marketing blitz by the RVDA abd RVIA through the GO RVing BS. A good percentage of people buy one, use it a few of the big holiday weekends for awhile, and then realize it's not their cup of tea. Then out of those people a good percentage were pushed into the 10 or 12 year note on 15K or 20K campers, and are about as upside down as you can get. They then attempt to sell it for a lot more than its worth. You also probably have a good percentage who realize they were sold a bag of goods as in a POS.
The RV bubble is not sustainable, its one gas price hike or economic speed-bump away from disaster.
