I've always wondered if that mindset was a product of the depression. Nowadays, there are fewer who lived through the 30's and our economy has bounced up and down but never down to that extent. So folks nowadays don't see the "danger" in buying expensive to operate toys - "in a few years gas will drop again". I guess we really live in a different world than our grandparents did.
Absolutely right. We have the benefit of experience with the economy that appears to proof those trends. Guessing that almost 100 years ago, there weren't the economic swings with the frequency as now. Everything jsit happens faster. But 07-08 hit hard. I was able to get great deals on gas guzzling luxuries......
