My DW uses bidding wars (BIN or auction) on Facebook a lot and has sold all sorts of small and larger stuff that way, including misc. small RV items that aren't worth the hassle of using ebay. I hate selling on ebay, it's such a PITA but occasionally that's the only way. She also uses CL depending on what it is but as most know, there's always the chances of problem people.
We have a plastic bin in front of the house (we're 200' or so from the road) and leave smaller items in it for folks to come and pick up without us having to answer the door. They leave payment in an envelope inside and no problems to date. We even get some repeat customers 'cuz they know we sell only the good stuff. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. We routinely get folks driving in & out of our place and you'd think it's drug related, lol!
Over the past year we've been purging all sorts of good junk that's been laying around the house. Sometimes we'll bundle small things into a package deal. Everything sells at the right price so don't necessarily try to recoup your original cost. Bidding war auctions can be great when get several people that want your item then it becomes a contest of them beating the other bidders. Facebook bidding wars is good because they have admin. people (volunteers) that you can contact if there's a problem buyer and if needed, they can be reprimanded or even kicked off the site.
FWIW, I would never use the UPS store. I used to use UPS a lot 15-20 years ago but got tired of all the hassles and cost (sending and receiving). We use a local packaging depot that uses all the courier companies and post office and gives you the lowest shipping cost plus their costs for packaging things is pretty reasonable. Rates for the same thing to the same location can vary quite a bit between couriers and post office but UPS will squeeze what they can from you and then some. There's many independent shipping/packaging places these days and are competing hard for customers.
It's really sad that RV.net does not allow a classified forum. It's the only RV site I'm aware of that does that. The excuse I've heard is pretty lame IMO.
