Selling your Rv yourself

How long did it take to sell your trailer? Is this a good time to sell or too late in the season, how did you price it? Would like to upgrade to a larger rig also for sale by owner. His isn't moving too fast either although it's priced right...Any suggestions?

  • I sold my palomino pop up TC in January,my friend sold a pop up trailer at the same time. So hang in there it could sell even in winter.
  • We've sold 3 ourselves. I don't recall it taking very long. If you want the used unit, buy it and put yours up for sale.
  • We currently have our travel trailer listed in the IWANTA (as advised by our local RV dealer) and on eBay motors. Contrary to our dealer's advice, the IWANTA add has produced nothing but one SPAM/scam response and one "agent" wanting to sell it for us (for a commission, of course). The eBay Motors listing has only be up two days, but it's had over 80 views and there are four people with it on their watch list with four days to go on the auction. I've sold many things on eBay and the usual pattern is that people will watch it until the last hour or two and then start bidding.

A few years ago, I sold a boat on BoatTrader - the add was about $125 and the boat sold in a couple of days. Our dealer, however, says they don't get much in the way of results from RVTrader (the same outfit).

As for pricing, I priced the travel trailer (a 2013 Surveyor Sport in perfect condition) halfway between wholesale and private party retail to attract buyers and lookers... if a couple of folks want to bid against each other and drive it up a bit, I wouldn't mind at all!
