Actually, after checking a few sites, it seems to appear that riding in a 5th wheel or travel trailer is legal in Indiana.
It was against the law and the driver was cited so my comment was dead on point. I will note that this happened right on the Indiana/Ohio border and it was illegal in both states therefore all criticism towards the driver was legit and well called for. - mowermechExplorer IISince it is apparently illegal to allow anyone to ride in ANY trailer where the incident took place, it is good that the driver was cited for the infraction.
However, please keep in mind that in SOME states it IS legal to ride in a fifth wheel or a truck camper (often a means of communication with the driver is required) but not in a bumper pull trailer. - azdryheatExplorerOut here in the wild, wild west of Arizona it's perfectly legal for people to ride in the trailer so long as there is some sort of communication between those in the trailer and the driver. Not saying it's a smart thing to do but it is legal in AZ.
- WalabyExplorer III will echo ChooChooMan74's comment. GLAD the father got cited. It is AGAINST THE LAW! So, regardless if you are an IDIOT and think it's safe to have passengers in your TT/5er, it is against the law, in those states, and therefore, the 5er driver ABSOLUTELY should have been, and rightfully was, cited.
People need to be held accountable for their actions. Break the law, pay the consequences.
I am very thankful the young man was not hurt or worse.

Nope, this is how it starts.
Glad that luck was on her side and was only minor injuries. Glad the father got cited!camperforlife wrote:
And this
This happened a couple miles from my house today. Unbelievable someone would let their child ride inside the trailer. Very lucky to be alive.

No kidding, you'd think the semi driver could have been more alert to what was going on.
I can't believe how stupid people can be!!! - icanonExplorerI can't believe how stupid people can be!!!
- CalicajunExplorerDriving is not really that safe. We don't allow anyone to ride in the trailer.
- The_TexanExplorerAlthough it may not be a good idea to ride in a 5er, Ohio is one of only a couple of states that prohibit riders in a 5th wheel, which this RV was.
