Serious Camping at WM

There is a Walmart about 5 miles from the park we are currently staying at so I stopped by there yesterday for a Rebox. As I parked I noticed a nice and large Cameo all setup, slides out and left all alone. Figured the owner was getting work done at their auto service area but was still surprised to see the rig in full camping mode in the parking lot. This evening as I returned the movie that same rig is there with full camping gear out including one of those big framed generators. The owners even had a blue poop tote hooked to the sewage line. I have seen people overnight at WM but never setup a long term camp before.

It will be interesting to see how long they stay. Have you ever spotted this type of behavior before? Seems like it is taking advantage of a good thing.

    Why do people get so agitated whenever they see an RV in a parking lot? Am I missing something? Is it really that bothersome? And it always seems to be a WalMart parking lot. And this is not an isolated event. These type of posts pop up here on a regular basis. If WalMart doesn't care why should anyone else?

    That is the reasonable thing. However, usually it isn't WM that boots the RVs from the parking lot, it is the local town and county who usually enacts the anti-RV regulations, using campers at WM as an excuse to pass the bans.

    Rather than have an ordinance ban all RV'ers why not have a 1 or 2 day limit? Most state parks here already have a 14 day limit with some being shorter. We use WM's or Casino lots only when traveling long distance and need a place part way for the night.

    This is a classic example of the "no individual snowflake feels responsible for the avalanche." Yes, one person spread out with deck chairs out isn't much, but there are already YouTube videos of people driving around Wally Worlds making fun of the RV-ers parked there and trying to get this banned in ever more places.

    However, I'm guessing it is a sign of the times where being "the person that ruins it for the rest of us" is a badge of honor.

    Yup. And that is why what was offered as a safe place to pull into with an RV from a storm, breakdown or whatever is now being banned in many WM across the US. Thanks to people like that.

    It is all up to the store manager, company policy and local ordinances. If they don't stop it...I guess they are either ok with it or oblivious to it.

    I do think it is folks taking advantage and they could indeed spoil it for anyone who wishes to stop for a few hours nap.

    Last year I saw a TT fully set up in a WM parking lot complete with an extension cord running into the base of a lamp post for power. Out of curiosity, I asked an assistant manager about it, and was told it was a contractor that was working on a computer network upgrade in the store.

    Haven't seen a rig at our local WM since the practice was prohibited by local ordinance about 7 years ago. Parking overnight there will get you a nice ticket.

    The other day, I was at WTMart, and you'll never believe it.... But I saw an IDIOT!! ZOMG!!!!
