We've driven through Tornado Alley, and have seen a couple in the distance. I agree with the others - use a weather radio, keep your eyes on the sky, and enjoy your trip. If you HAVE to seek shelter - get out of the RV because they offer zero protection. And watch the Weather Channel - they will usually give you a couple day's notice of areas that could have severe weather. That should give you enough advance warning to not be in that area ;-)
