NOTE: the M-Ping app is a feedback app. If you encounter server weather.. Use M-Ping to tell NOAA about it.. The other apps feed you.

Check out OnGuard - cost me a buck - follows your location, you can choose what alerts to receive and what ringtone, etc for different levels. Has all alerts, from storm to civil disturbance if you choose. Works very well - was recommended to me by another traveler on the forums - been using it about 3 times have been coast to coast twice with it - can vouch the alerts work! ST

It's really eerie when you're sitting in a meeting and 8-10 cell phones all put out a very distinct high pitched alert at the same time.

I'm pretty sure that if you are in an area that has a severe weather warning, it will be sent out to your smart phone through your carrier regardless of the apps (or lack of apps) that you have downloaded.

Having said that... I like WeatherBug.

I have the free Red Cross Tornado App on my Android phone. It alerts you with a loud alarm when a tornado warning has been issued in the area you are traveling.

I also have the free Raindar android app which shows rain likelihood within the next 30 minutes.

I also have the free Around Me app, which shows nearby places you can go if you need to get off the road (shopping centers, hospitals, restuarants, etc).

Also have installed RV Parky, We Camp Here, All Stays, among others.

X2. I really prefer Weather Underground, but you have to check and see where the reporting location for the site you input is. I figured that out when the campsite I searched was reported at a weather station 25 miles and 3000' lower than the campground itself. Brrr!

I use Weather Underground and it is great, I also add MyRadar though I use the iTunes versions.

I downloaded Tornado App. It appears to only show Tornadoes. Additional apps must be downloaded for fires, floods, and other warnings that NOAA sends out. Storm Shield does storm-based alerts for tornado, hurricane, flood, thunderstorm, winter storm seasons and other life-threatening weather events via voice and push notification.
