I keep all closed all the time also, I use the Galley and grey water to rinse the stinky slinky, well mine isn't stinky, as the last water down it is just soapy shower water.
If it were my unit I would insist on a total!! The reason being they could never get to all the nooks that there are and in the build the carpet is the 1st item down on the floor. So it goes under all cabinets that set on it.
