Shaw satellite in lower USA

Lots of rumours floating around that Shaw is going to (or already has) cut off service to the lower USA including Florida, Arizona and Texas.

Are there any snowbirds in these areas right now that are receiving Shaw signals?

We picked up Shaw HD in Palm Springs and Tucson last spring. Good signal.

The change occurred after April 16th when the replacement satellite was launched.

Shaw had some HD signals on their old satellites and that is not what is being posted about. It is the new HD channels that became available once they launched the new third Satelite in April and I think it was into May before they had it up and running.

  • For those looking for dish settings, download this program.ds Lookangle

You will have to put Anik F2 in its list. The latitude of Anik F2 is 111.1 degrees. After that, all you have to do is enter your latitude and longitude off your GPS and Bob's your uncle.
  • The official Shaw Direct statement is:
The satellite signal is still available. We will no longer help you over the phone in trying to find the right co-ordinates to the satellite from where you are in the USA.

No problem with me. I can go a site like dishpointer.com and find all the info I need.

  • Also depends on what you are hoping to pick up. For Shaw, it appears that satellites with SD are still available. I don't believe HD (or at least all their HD) is available. I'd be curious to know if things like PPVs and NFL Sunday Ticket are available as well.
  • Shaw is still able to be picked up in the States, Bell is not unless you are less than 100 miles from the border.
  • If you follow the other thread that has been going most of the summer, a poster just posted on September 2/2013 that his friends in Mexico are still getting the signal as usual, so if they get it in Mexico I am sure that Arizona, Texas and Florida are getting it as well.
