Regarding Service/Support animals - too many people are abusing the system just so they can bring their pet everywhere. The US Government clarified that Service Animals can only be dogs and have to be trained to perform a specific function. As a result, business operators can ask what function the animal is trained to perform and still be in compliance with the ADA. And last I heard, emotional support, was not valid as a service dog.
I have had a registered Pet Therapy dog and still help evaluate new teams now and then, so I knew I couldn't use my dog's vest in a retail setting. OTOH I have offered to our local group members the chance to "visit" our store so they get used to visiting unusual places.
