Short term (7-10 days) RV storage in/near Savannah?
So we are planning our yearly trip to Florida in February, but our favorite campground down there is booked and they have more people on the wait list than they have spots... in other words EVERYONE with a reservation would have to cancel, and then some people on the wait list would have to cancel before we could get a spot. We are still holding out hope, but its unlikely we will get a spot.
My parents are renting a 3 bedroom house and only occupying the 1 bedroom, so we are tentatively planning to camp in Savannah on the way down, leave our camper in Savannah, drive the truck to Florida and stay with my parents, then come back up, pick up the camper and finish our trip with a stay in Charleston, then coming back home.
We will be calling campgrounds in Savannah to inquire about a cost to park our camper in overflow lots for 7-10 days, but does anyone have another suggestion for short term storage?
We are also considering calling RV dealers in the area and seeing if we can store our camper on their lot. In theory it sounds great, but I'm not sure if dealers would assume (or be able to legally refuse to assume) liability while my camper is on their lot.
Any "outside the box" ideas?
Am I the only one who misses the "good ole days" when fuel was $4/gallon and you could just call the day before and get a spot and go camping? When we first started, we didn't plan ahead... we often just made a last minute decision and called down a week or two ahead of time and found places. Now RV'ing has become so popular and fuel prices are so low that you have to plan a year in advance...
