Several years ago the state increased the major local hwy artery through our city from four to six lanes. In doing so they created a ton of new intersections and of course each with its own traffic light. The idea was to increase traffic flow and accidents do seem to have dropped in the last several years. It never ceases to amaze me how many people actually fail to stop for a red signal.
