I recently incurred some minor fiberglass damage to the rear of our C. Got a preliminary estimate from La Mesa RV of "around $1,000" which means it would be more and my deductible is $500. My insurance company, National Interstate, sent an adjuster out to check the damage and he recommended I just have the local truck service center fix it (the coach was already there for the installation of a new set of shocks), which they did for a couple of hundred dollars and I canceled the claim.
According to the adjuster, no money paid out = no claim, period! If your insurance company dings you for just calling or canceling a claim at no cost to them you have the wrong insurance company.
