Should I use my old Tow Bar

We bought our Sterling (forerunner to the Sterling AT) about the same time. It's towed the Jeep over 75,000 miles and only last fall it needed a couple bushings. We plan to use it to tow the Jeep another 75,000 miles with the new motorhome.

If you haven't damaged it by taking too sharp a corner or by backing up it should give you many more years of service.

Just a follow up. The old tow bar is working great. Had the brackets installed on the Honda last month and after a few go rounds at the storage lot and a parking lot it seemed as good as ever. We took a short trip to a local campground and all went well. Taking a longer trip tomorrow and don't expect any problems :)

I have an older Roadmaster Sterling that had some arm issues that I bought used. I sent it to Roadmaster and I think for $150 they rebuilt it, looked almost new when it was returned. I have been using it for 3 years now and works perfectly. A much more cost effective solution than a new Sterling at about $1000.
I would definitely give it a try and if issues check into repair.

If it has stuff like rubber boots deteriorating (which I doubt since it's been inside), RM can probably send you replacements. I know BlueOx will. Also, they probably offer a reconditioning service. AND they usually have a clinic at the bigger shows/rallies where they'll service towabars on the spot, possibly free.

Thanks everybody for the advice (and offers). Plan right now is to use it. I'll do some Parking Lot runs and a couple local trips. If all goes well I'll take it on the road.

Unless you think it's become metal fatigued or damaged in some way, if it were me I would continue to use it. If you still feel uncomfortable for some reason, I recommend you contact the mfgr. and express your concern(s).

I bought my Roadmaster Hitch in 1999, and it still works great.

If the bars are sliding out and in fine, they should work just as well as day 1.
