I assume the park concessionaires are doing things similar to what we are trying to do, which is wait until the last minute to make any huge decisions. From a hard nosed practical point of view the concessionaires are better served to string seasonal employees along for as long as possible. It is far easier to let 1000 people go than it is to hire 1000 at a moment's notice. And those big concessionaires have a pretty strong track record of not being employee oriented. Xanterra has long been considered among the worst companies to work for in the US (sources: Reddit, Glassdoor). I would advise your step daughters to not spend their anticipated paychecks in advance.
