We went to a campground in Gettysburg about 2 years ago, forget which one it was. There was a back section that was steep narrow gravel roadway. Started spinning tires in 2wd trying to get up the hill. Had to pop it into 4wd to finish climbing the hill. Steep, windy road through trees... I wasn't backing up.
The last 2 years we went to Florida in February it was snowing as we left. We live at the bottom of the neighborhood. Took 4wd to get all that weight up the hill and out of the neighborhood and out of the cold and snow. I would have paid double to have 4wd to get out of the snow and into Florida those years!
I'm a cop and my wife is a nurse. Until this past year, all of my cruisers have been rear wheel drive. Again, bottom of the hill to get out of my neighborhood made for fun in Crown Vics. I've been glad to have 4wd for myself and my bride. When you consider all the snow emergencies that we have been able to work because we were able to get to work, the 4wd has more than paid for itself!
