Shutting off the water

Just a curious question. How many of you turn your water off when it's not in use? Example, we camp a lot in state parks where we don't have city water. If we do a day trip we simply flip the switch off. I've heard of stories before of trailers getting flooded because of a plumbing failer of some sort. And we all know the build quality isn't getting any better.

  • We turn the water off - either source - if we're leaving the rig for more than just a shopping trip or something. Example: when staying at Aberdeen Proving Ground near the grandkids, we'll pack some overnight stuff and stay in their mom's "mother-in-law" suite for several nights. The water gets turned off and the thermostats set to a maintenance temp.

When on the tank, the water pump is off if we are not actively using water.

When on shore water, the faucet outside of the RV is off if we leave the RV, but not while we are puttering around the trailer.
  • We also turn pump off when not in use. Have not been as dillegent as we should be about city water hookups nice reminder. We also turn our house water off when we leave for a trip and turn a/c down a lot.
