Side compartments key broken

Hello all,

Just bought a 1984 Class C made by Triple E on Chevy chassis. Have lots of questions. Here is the first one:

I broke the key that opens the side compartments door. One of locks was stuck and I pushed it and it broke. What should I do? Should I replace all the doors or can I replace just the locks. Where should I go? RV stores will carry anything like this or should I go online.

Thank you
  • If you have a neighbor with an RV, ask to borrow their key.....they are all the same (if they look the same)...which is one of the complaints folks have....your key fits MY lock! Good thing RVers are such honest folks:)

If you have Roadside Assistance, they may be able to help you too.

I don't think I'd drill out the lock (or even remove one) if you can get a replacement key without much trouble.

Once you get access, you can go and get additional keys.

    Good luck:)
  • is the door locked shut or can it be opened. if opened, just unscrew the old lock and take it to any RV dealer. and get rid of the 751 locks.
    bumpy
  • a good rv store will have both the different types of locks/ if it is a cylinder lock drill it out and take the whole thing in so you can get the right length. I think they come in three sizes, and type that has a lock off to one side and a pull handle to open, they have those too, just need to know what color you need. wouldn't hurt to take it in with you too.
  • Welcome to the forum...

It depends on the type of lock you have, if it is the common cylinder type any RV shop will have them. If it is something out of the ordinary, on line would be your best bet.

Open the door and remove the lock then go from there. There is usually one phillips screw then a large nut holding it on.

    hope that helps...
