Sirius XM Radio Install

I bought a motor home with a "sirius XM ready" Jensen radio. I talked to the sirius people and was offered the "sxv 300" tuner for a total of $75 with an install card for free installation. They said I could transfer my sirius service from one of my cars during our trips.

Has anyone had experience doing this....and is this a good deal.....the guy I talked to was a little difficult to understand.
  • It's an older unit but I have the XM MyFi receiver that I can move back and forth from my truck to the class B to the girl friends car and to her Class C. Plus, I have 3 different boomboxes I use outside while camping, at a hotel or at the beach. I love it. I am just paying one subscription price for all the ways I can play this.

  • I had an Alpine XM ready system in my old TV - when we sold the truck because we weren't towing as much, the radio went with it.

I bought another one since I liked it so much. Also, it's a relatively cheap system since it comes with the XM tuner.

All XM Ready means is that it's got a plug for an XM tuner, and the source button will allow it to display "Sirius XM" and control the other tuner with the radio.
  • I use an Onyx connected to the aux input in the TT radio. At the end of the season I have Sirius suspend the service. The only issue is they'll only suspend it for 5 months so I have to call and have the suspension extended.
I never asked them about transferring service from DW's car when we're camping.
  • I thought 'XM ready' meant all you had to do is buy the subscription and give them the radio ID number.
  • I was hoping to use my current sirius subscription in the motorhome for my new car with the built in sirius radio as well. I was told no, I would need another subscription. I said I can only drive one vehicle at a time! When my contract runs out I will see if they change their mind or lose a long time customer .
  • Definitely go with the Jensen tuner that hooks directly to your head unit. Otherwise you won't get direct controls, and may only be able to connect with an FM modulator.

Some advice from my experience with them. Don't give them a credit card number let them bill you and then pay. They will renew you each time and the cost is around $120. per year. If you call and tell them you will take the $30. for six months them will do it. Let them know you are not in your vehicle enough to pay $120. Good luck

$120?? My renewal stated more than $200 with taxes and fees. I'm with you, though....never pay full price. It used to be you had to play the game, telling them you're going to cancel to get a better price. Now when you call them they automatically assume you want a lower price.
I called them just to find out when my renewal date was. Before I spoke, they asked if I was cancelling because of the price. Seems to me if they just offered their product at a reasonable price everyone would be happier and they could probably reduce their support staff.

  • They are all difficult to understand. I would do an online search for the Jensen model number to see what the Sirius add on module cost as that would be better than their radio. That will give you a comparison of cost.

I am surprised that they are allowing the radio to be changed back and forth, but they have been loosing a lot of customers
