The best referral we have received was from a Chevy dealer. I think, dealerships, workers in campground offices and even gas station attendants are good sources of good mechanics. A lot of the mobile RV techs know great mechanics.
You didn't say where you are and some of us know good shops we found while on the road. In Granite City across the river from St Louis is a great truck repair shop and most of the mechanics have RVs.. Sure helped out. The owner is into airplanes but we're both old guys of German descent and he got us in when he found out we were on the road and heading home.
