Slide In Or Out

I did a search and nothing popped up. When in storage is it best to have the slide in or out?
  • If your Rig is parked out of the weather does it just come down to personal preference or is there any mechanical reason stress or less stress on components where it might make a difference if the slide is left in out out?

I should add, I have had several RV's but this is my first with a slideout. My trailer is stored on my property out of the weather free from rain and sun. With the slide in it does block access to the rear of the trailer so I would have to push it out whenever I wanted to access that part of the trailer when parked.

    So?

That is what the Button is for........

Our 5vr was built in Sept 2006
We started living in it FT Jan 2007 and for 7 yrs slides went in/out almost weekly just like designed.

So opening them when you need to is what that button is for....use it :B

OR do like dealers do......leave them open

  • I see no reason to leave slides out unless I was going to use the RV or to work inside the RV
  • Can't tell you which is best but I have always stored mine with slides out and have not had any problems. I do keep mine out of the elements though. If I stored outside, I would keep slides in to minimize sun damage and leaks.
