Slideouts stop and start

I replaced my battery about a week ago and ever since, when putting the slides in or out, they stop about every 5 seconds. I called the dealer and he suggested replacing the fuses near the battery as they can get weak over time. I have 3 Shortstop 12v 50 amp fuses, I'm guessing for each of the 3 slides? After a few seconds, the fuses reset and work for another few seconds before stopping again. They're hydraulic slideouts and the fluid isn't low. I tested the battery with my digital tester and got 12.9 volts, without shore power hooked up. Would the fuses get "weak" over time? The trailer is a 2009.

  • Make sure your battery connections are clean and bright. There's usually more than one wire and I've found myself wondering sometimes if they're all connected correctly.
  • They are actually auto reset circuit breakers. And that is a common problem with them. Cheap (and cheaply made) and easy to replace. Available at RV stores and many auto parts stores.

  • Had the same problem with the slides in our Montana. I stubbornaly resisted the wisdom of the Montana forum about the circuit breakers. Finally broke down and changed them and haven't had a re-occurrance of the start/stop slides again.
  • Yes those 'relay type' dc circuit breakers get weak.

    I've had to replace mine.....they are $5-$6

Also battery voltage at 12.9 volts...how about when operating a slide out---does it drop voltage a lot?
Those slide out motors put a lot of demand on dc.....that's why they are wired directly to battery.
