Sliding hot water heater

After 9 years, my hot water unit is starting to slowly creep out from my arctic fox. How is the hot water tank secured inside the camper? I'm not seeing any anchor points and pushing on the unit outside is not moving the tank flush to the camper. It's about 3/4 of an inch from the camper. Any advice? Thanks.

  • On our last fifth wheel the water heater did not have any support underneath it. There was a 2 inch gap between the heater and the floor. I never thought about it until we arrive at a campsite and the outside bottom was pushing away from the camper wall. I took the water heater out, cut out some of the insulation in the wall so I could attach some 2 x 2s for attachment. I also made a small platform to support the weight of the water heater inside. No problems after that.
  • On the outer lip are screws that go into the wall of the camper. Inside we have a plastic band that goes across the top and fastens to the floor on each side. Since it is already away from the wall put on some fresh putty tape and new screws. Never heard of one moving. My guess is the screws are missing or holes too big? Best of luck
