I also try to do a minimum of the double nickel 55 If you are traveling much less than that, then you are a hinderence on the road. Maybe you should look at not traveling on major highways. You could cause an accident. Always put your emergency flashers on when on uphill grades. I'm sorry to be so critical, but I almost slammed into a fifth wheel last summer, that was doing less than 50. When I had to slam on the brakes, everything went flying in the trailer. What a mess. It could have been worse, but I almost s_ _t my pants. I got the trailer slowed down, but a tractor trailer might not be that lucky.
You were as much at fault as the slow moving person towing the trailer. If you cannot safely come to a controlled stop when you encounter another vehicle on the highway you are either not paying attention or you are driving too fast. I see people every day driving where I live on winding roads where the sight distance is 90 feet in places and they are going at 45 MPH and think that because they can negotiate the turns at that speed that it is safe and not thinking about whether if they go around a curve and someone is stopped for any reason whether they can stop in 90 feet when they are at that speed. The reality is that they will go 90 feet before they can get their foot of the gas pedal and over to the brake pedal.
