If your spouse stops breathing during the snoring, it's sleep study time and likely sleep apnea. For lesser noisy sleeping, earplugs work great. Try a few different kinds until you find one that is most comfy. You won't even notice them once installed. I wear them when Nancy had a cold and it makes her snore loud.
