Many years ago, I worked for a septic tank pumping company and the safety equipment was rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves. There was no water or hand cleaner and we washed up with the customers hose and ate lunch in the truck. Now,it doesn't bother me to handle my dump equipment with bare hands 'cuz I can rinse with the hose and then use hot water in the sink and then hand cleaner.
I did wear my rubber boots one rainy day while dumping at Elk Heights on I-90 in Washington and was glad I did as the dump system hiccuped and there were little brown things floating all over the area. Water was about 6" deep around the dump site and all I could do was to finish, shut all the valves and pull the hose off and just stuff it in into a big trash bag and clean it when we got home.
