Here is what you have to do to the CRV to tow it.
The FWD and AWD are the same. This is after you hook up the towbar and electrical of course.
You start the engine and move the gear lever down from park through all the gears to 1, the lowest you can move the gear shift, I pause a moment in each position (gear), then you move the gearshift up through the gears to N. The last gear it is in prior to going to N is D (drive)
After reaching neutral you let the engine idle in neutral for 3 minutes to fill the tranny with oil.
Shut the key off the accs. position.. Make sure your emergency brake is off, and accessories are off, radio and what ever. I also check to see I dont have my cruise control switch illuminated.
You are good to tow for 8 hours then you have to redo this proceedure.
Some of the later models you have to pull a fuse, on my 2004 I have never had a problem of battery going dead because of electrical usage and fuse pulling.
It emphasises in the manual about this proceedure of moving the gearshift in the proper sequence. You never go to neutral from R only from D
The manual states speeds are limited to 65 mph
