Check out this link to the Motorhome Magazine Dinghy Towing Guides. The 2012 guide is free, previous years are $1.99. Once you decide on a particular year Subaru, I would think it be worth a couple of $$ to see for yourself that the car is towable. Or, if you find a car that still has the owner's manual with it, check in there, it should be there under "recreational towing" or some such.
If you download the 2012 guide, you will see that ALL MANUAL TRANSMISSION SUBARUS listed in the guide can be towed flat. This includes the Forester & Outback. In every previous year I've checked this guide, that has always been the case, and I have read posts on here numerous times stating that "ALL manual transmission Subarus can be flat towed". And I don't ever remember anyone disputing that statement (which is rare on these forums! LOL)

If it turns out I'm wrong & OutBacks or Foresters make good dinghys, then game over, thats what I want, But The Subi nuts says no, yet they are not RV people & don't ever even think about things like this?
