- Alan_HepburnExplorerI would put out several wooden crates marked "ACME" on the perimeter of the camp, then start yelling "Meep Meep" and watch the fun...
- rekoj71ExplorerI used to hear that every night I was camping in AZ in a tent when I was younger. Loved to hear it. Slightly eerie, but so neat. Had a high power flashlight (5 d-cell mag was the best back then), but still never saw a one even though they sounded like they were maybe 25 yard out and 20 or so of them (sure they weren't though). Hope to hear it again soon.

Enjoy the evening and the coyotes song. They are not a threat to humans! They are a threat to dogs and cats.
X2 nothing to worry about - WalabyExplorer IIIf Im in an area that I can legally hunt, I bust out my game caller, spotlight and my AR and hope to bust a cap or three.
If I can't legally hunt, I bust out my game caller, my spotlight, and my camera and hope to bust a shutter or three.
Or, I sit back, enjoy the music.
Mike - westendExplorerI live in suburbia and they have been denning up close by. Some nights, when the pack gets home from hunting, the pups all light up for a few minutes. No wonder they howl with all that noise around.

I run to the trailer and arm myself with an AR15, numerous 30 round mags and a high output flashlight. I would then spend the night patrolling the area around my trailer ready to shoot anything that moves. I don't plan on letting anything eat my family and you know them Coyotes are sneaky people killing machines that are drawn in by the scent of campfires as they know there are easy pickings.
Finally, an honest, practical answer. :B - BB_TXNomadSit back and enjoy their serenade. 3 or 4 can sound like 15 of 20. We live in the country and hear them (and occasionally see them) all the time.

- mayo30ExplorerThey are very smart and can mimic dogs sounds. They will also send one in close to draw the dog out and then attack in force.Smart dogs know not to follow and will only patrol the yard boundary. We call small dogs coyote bait. They are not fussy either, a local family of coyotes really plays havoc with the stray cat population as they compete for the same food.
