Everybody has a different scenario. Last I read, about half the people take it at 62.

Back in the 1980s, we were convinced by all the scary news stories that it would no longer exist for our retirement, so we saved a bunch of money.

Now, it feels so strange to get a "free" chunk in the bank account every month! Yes, I know I paid into it. But I sure do love getting it back.
