we both took our SS early at age 62. the males in my family tend to die early so that was a factor in my decision. I also did the math via a simple excel spreadsheet and found that my breakeven point was somewhere in my 80's. we are both comfortable with the decision.
ask yourself:
- do you need the money? I mean "need" the money? can you live your desired lifestyle without it.?
- how is your general health? any chronic issues that might tend to shorten it?
if "yes" to either I would consider taking SS early.
