I'm with the group that says call or email. It's a simple thing to do and will erase any question of "right or wrong" on your part about keeping it.
The real question is why you posted the dilemma in the first place. Are you truly concerned about doing the right thing? Or are you just creating a scenario for entertainment. If the former, then calling will fix that. If the latter, then you have been properly entertained at the range of ethics and morals on this board.
