Some info to pass on """UPDATE UPDATE"""

just wanted to pass on some info about a product i used and what happened. i bought a can of the clear flex seal (as seen on tv). i don't have any leaks in our 21 TT but figured i would just spray all the seams to to prevent any leaks.
sprayed the sidewalls, around windows and door and lights, it looked good, UNTIL,,,,,, not sure if its the sun or what but within about 4 months every where i sprayed the flex seal turned yellow, so the trailer looks like a zebra now.
i tried taking it off with some spirits but no good, it just started to remove the paint off the siding.
contacted flex seal and they said they don't know what happened and they had me send pictures and they will get back to me in 4to 8 weeks (yikes) and let me know what can be done.
so just some info in case anyone is thinking about doing this their TT or Rv to maybe do a test area first.
here are a couple of pictures of what happened.

just passing along some info.

NOTE TO MOD: NOT SURE IF THIS GOES HERE OR RV ISSUES. LET ME KNOW OR IF U COULD JUST MOVE IT.
THANKS
  • Since the formulation of Flex-seal is water soluble, maybe caulk remover would take it off the surface quickly. If you go that route, check an inconspicuous spot first to make sure it doesn't make things worse.

This highlights a CRITICAL point and that is BE DARNED SURE that whatever you put on your trailer you understand and know how and if it can be reversed or removed.

  • That stuff is the biggest rip off going.
I used it the joints of my aluminum gutters that were leaking.
I wire brushed them and cleaned them prior to spraying them with it.
The very first rain storm they leaked just as bad as before.

I would never ever use it again for any thing
