The trouble today is that they grew up texting and then learned to drive. So driving is an activity added to their texting. Us older folks grew up driving and then we added cell phones so driving is our primary activity and we're less likely to feel comfortable using a cell phone while driving. Makes sense?

So you never rode your bike 'hands free' as a kid ?
I use to do it all the time.
Even would pedal bike while sitting on handle bars backwards.

Kids aren't do anything different now a days then we use to do..just have better equipment (my skate board was a 2X4 with steel roller skates nailed on bottom).

If they have a cell phone chances are it is stuck to their ear while driving or they are 'thumbing' away (texting).
See it all the time........young and OLD. (I have a cell phone but I rarely carry it------heck I only talk on it when someone calls and I can get to it before they hang up/leave msg.)

Witnessed a young woman at the top of Laurel Falls in the Smokies, several years ago, who had hiked to the top of this site in flip flops with her cell phone. In spite of all of the beauty (and danger) of this site, she was walking around texting, oblivious to it all. She walked over some wet, slippery rock and her feet went out from under her, and the phone went up in the air and over the ledge. She hit her head pretty bad, and with no rangers present, had to be helped all the way back down several miles to the road to get help. I couldn't help but sympathize and feel frustration at this young woman's ignorance at the same time.
