Space Heaters

The largest heater you can buy is only 1,500 watts and can be used with any 15 amp circuit.

Buy whatever you want but I like small and cheap. Now is a great time to get heavily discounted heaters from stores wanting to clear old stock. Probably $10 - $15 will get you a perfectly functional heater.

I can use 2 of the 1500 watt heaters as long as they are on different circuits, and we are not using the microwave. I, also, have a 30 amp system.

Without trippeing a braker you can use 1500 watt,,ONE per breaker (You must find outlets on different circuits)2 of them on a 30 amp rig or several on a 50

PROBLEM.. The QUICK BOX outlets used in RVs are marginal with a 1500 watt load so suggest you not set heater to HIGH.

Solution.. I have 4 special outlets

1:Washer/Dryer (This one is a 15/20 amp and well able to haul 12 amps)
3 I added,, all 15/20 amp,,See above

Each outlet has a circuit breaker (Some 15 some 20) all to itself.. NO problems

Before I did that I had problems with hot-wire smell..Others have had failures.

AVOID ANY OUTELET POWERED BY THE INVERTER... if you have one that is.

I use a cube heater in mine and have to turn it down because of the heat it puts out. They can be purchased for 20-30.00. They use very little power, the kind that shuts off if overturned is the best and safest to use. We use one in our greenhouse too and it works great.

I use one 1500 watt heater in my 24' class C. I generally use it in hookup RV parks when it is cold, and supplement it with the furnace when it is very cold.

I've used it into the mid or lower 20s and it will maintain high 50s-60 inside overnight. For me perfect for sleeping. In the evening as temp drops it usually is maintaining 70 plus in the RV. I use the furnace additionally for morning warmup or for other times when the electric heater can't cut it.

Couple things to watch out for- I agree check the plug and outlet for excessive heat and monitor the heater for proper operation. Some people replace the outlet with a better quality outlet.

Also some RV furnaces blow air into bottom compartments, plumbing chases etc. to help avoid freezing. If yours does take that into consideration when operating electric heater in cold conditions.

Propane is very safe, far safer than a space heater!! To each their own fears.
If you ever open up an outlet in your Trailer you may not want to use an electric heater.

Oil filled it good. If you get one of the fan forced ones I recommend getting one with a "tip over switch" . That way if it accidentally gets tipped over it shuts off and doesn't start a fire.

I also use the oil filled radiator. Silent, and is a constant heat. No warming up, and cooling off. The TT just gets warm, and stays that way.

We have a Duraflame quartz heater that we utilize in our 5'er during the camping season and it subsidizes with our heat pump in the S&B during the winter months.

Ours is about 5 years old, but it is almost like this one.

I have an aversion to the oil-filled from a few years back when one exploded and killed an acquaintance and her child. I was one of the first responders and it was not pretty.

We are RV campers and like to use the Electric Oil-filled Electric heater to supplement the propane heater. Especially at camp grounds with electric hookups. It is much better to use their electric then to use my propane. When camping off the power grid we need to use the propane furnace.

We never set our Electric Heater over a #3 setting and most of the time use the middle heat setting.

This is the Oil Filled heater we like to use with its low profile. This type of heater has no visible flame or red hot heat core which makes it one of the safest type of heaters to use in the trailer especially with small kids and animals. They are also very quiet in operation - just go CLICK every now and then. These do not have a fan but we will use the O2COOL 10-inch AC/DC/D-CELL portable fan behind one if we want to move some heated air aorund the trailer.



We also alot of the times plug an extension cord into the camp ground pedestal 20AMP SERVICE receptacle and plug our small electric heater into that. This does not draw from the 30AMP SERVICE our trailer is connected too.
