from my experience using a TPMS along with several others we have probably avoided several blowouts when the TPMS warned us of a slow leak. fast enough to go down enough between rest stops to potentially lead to a blowout, but slow enough to stop and in a safe place and change.
and from experience, it's almost impossible to feel a trailer tire going low, you will often notice it on the TV, but not on a trailer. so. I'll postulate that a fair number of blowouts are not a quick catastrophic event, but lead up to by a puncture or slow leak.
I've logged around 50K miles, two others around 25K each and one pushing 75K miles. So far non of us has had a blowout or tread seperation. Tires have varied from Maxxis to towmax and lots in between.
A couple of nails along the way but the TPMS caught those.
I'm sure some are from a tread seperation or quick massive leak as well. what the mix is who knows.
