All roads in Ca are patrolled, but you can drive for hours and never see a patrol car. They also use radar and aircraft.
I run Ca 395 often towing at 60-65. I'm guessing Chip's tow trailers too, and realize rolling roadblocks are dangerous.
Okay, so now I can confess that I did 60-65 from Reno to Redding, partly on 395 to Susanville. Awesome drive & scenery and not a lot of traffic. Nary a cop in sight anywhere between Reno and the coast. Going farther south this summer to Monterey and on to Vegas. I'm sure there'll be more cops down that way. Even with a 55 limit in Ca, still saw quite a few RVs on the shoulder with a flat or blowout.
