I am wanting to clean my roof this week but I am having a hard time finding powdered Spic n Span. Can anyone point me in the right direction of what retailers carry it? There website just keeps saying no retailers in your area no matter how big the radius I use.

Maybe it is a regional thing, but here at the Jersey Cape our local Walmart, Ace Hardware, and Home Depot all stock it - pretty sure I have seen it in grocery stores, too.

Spic and Span has fallen upon the shoals of environmental disfavor. It is simply trisodium phosphate, aka TSP, and since phosphate is an undesirable pollutant to the nations rivers and estuaries, there has been a big push to eliminate phosphates as much as possible from the waste water stream.TSP is still available, it hasn't been completely outlawed, it is just hard to find. As long as you are washing something like a trailer roof, and as long as the wash and rinse waters are going onto your lawn, and not down the drain to some sewage treatment plant, you are more or less ok. The lawn will like the fertilizer and will probably keep most of the phosphate out of the waterways. Unless, of course, you dump tons of fertilizer on the lawn independently of the trailer wash.Living in Avon, OH, you may know of the days when Lake Erie had horrible algae problems. Much of that was due to phosphate pollution. It's elimination from washing products (among other steps that were taken) have done a good job making the lake much more pleasant.

It's not sold in some states due to it's high phosphate concentration. We get ours in the local Ace Hardware. I used to put thousands of times the Spic-N-Span phosphorous when applying farm fertilizer.

I have no idea if the Tide will clean your roof well but beware -- it will make it very slick!! Be careful up there!

Dolllar Tree may have the liquid form.. no difference in the two,, You can use either.

Hardware stores often carry both liquid and powder.

Alpha Systems recommends using a non-abrasive household cleaner, such as Top Job or Spic-N-Span, and a medium-bristled scrub brush. Do not use any harsh or highly-abrasive products during cleaning. When finished cleaning, remember to thoroughly rinse the roof and sidewalls in order to remove any soap residue and to prevent streaking.

Alpha Systems who made the rubber roof on my trailer specifically mentions Spic-n-Span or Top Job as recommended cleaners for their roof membrane.

I have used the liquid Spic and Span with good results. Can find it anywhere even a lot of Dollar stores.

Murphys oil soap in warm water will do a very good job on RV roofs.
